My son(15)takes 1100mg of Seroquel daily for the psychosis in his HD. This has been very effective after a disastrous 5months on first Resperidol and Olanzapine. the side effects are minimal surprisingly enough on such a high dose and he is now attending an adult computer class for the last 3 months. He is also on 60mg daily of Citalopram for depression. The only concern I have is for the unseen or unknown side effects (internal organs for instance) but weigh it up with him gaining quality of life as he is the first stages of Huntingtons and experiences chorea, shortterm memory loss, cognitive dysfunction, stiffnessetc. On querying the high doseage I was told that research is now saying that a higher dose is more effective in some people - this would certainly be the case with Adam. the other interesting thing was that on Resperidol and olanzapine he became increasingly aggressive and abusive. |
